Privacy Policy

Summary: Your saved journal data lives on your device and, if you enable it, in your personal iCloud. Lumina does not operate servers that store your journal, Dream Life File, or AI conversations. AI features send only the context needed to fulfill your request to the provider described below.

Introduction

Lumina ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our iOS application.

Private by Design

We believe your journal is deeply personal. That's why:

Journal entries are stored only on your device and in your personal iCloud account
We have no servers that store your journal content
We do not sell your journal content or share it with advertisers
We do not require an account or login

Data Storage

Your persistent Lumina data is stored in two places, both controlled by you:

Local Device Storage: Your entries are saved directly on your iPhone or iPad
iCloud: If you're signed into iCloud, your entries are automatically backed up to your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit service

This means your data can sync across your devices and persist if you reinstall the app, but Lumina does not maintain a separate copy on its own servers.

AI Processing

Lumina uses AI for personalized Dreams, daily guidance, the AI companion, and related features. When you use one of these features, the context needed to generate your result may include your request, relevant Dream Life File details, recent journal entries, signs, preferences, and prior generated content.

This context is sent directly to Venice AI over an encrypted connection for private, real-time processing. Lumina uses a private Venice model with zero data retention. Venice does not store or log prompts or model responses, and the content is not used to train models. The generated result is returned to Lumina and may then be saved on your device or in your iCloud as part of your app data.

If you choose to create or play an AI voice note, Lumina sends only the final generated narration text—not your raw journal entries or Dream Life File—to ElevenLabs so it can synthesize the audio. ElevenLabs handles that request under its own privacy and retention terms. The resulting audio is saved locally and may be backed up to your iCloud.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Apple CloudKit: For secure iCloud backup and sync (governed by Apple's privacy policy)
RevenueCat: For managing subscriptions. RevenueCat receives anonymized purchase data from Apple but does not have access to your journal content
Venice AI: Privately processes the context needed for Lumina's AI-generated Dreams, guidance, and companion responses. Lumina uses a zero-retention private model, so prompts and responses are not stored or logged by Venice.
ElevenLabs: Converts final generated narration text into synchronized audio. Raw journal entries and Dream Life File fields are not sent to ElevenLabs.
Meta App Events: For measuring Lumina ad performance and app installs on Meta platforms. Meta may receive limited app event information such as app launch, install attribution, device identifiers where permitted, and subscription-related events. Meta does not receive your journal entries.

Advertising Measurement and Tracking

Lumina uses Meta App Events to understand whether ads for Lumina lead to app installs, app launches, subscriptions, or other app activity. This helps us measure and improve our advertising.

On iOS, Lumina asks for permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt before enabling advertiser tracking. If you decline, we do not enable Meta advertiser tracking for your device. You can change this choice later in iOS Settings.

We do not share your journal entries, AI chat content, birth chart details, photos, or other private journal content with Meta for advertising.

Subscriptions

Premium subscriptions are processed entirely through Apple's App Store. We do not collect or store payment information.

Children's Privacy

Lumina is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
